Brenda's Time!

Morning! This year found me in a place that parents either dread or count down for ;)…I'm a brand new empty nester! So, what in the world do I do with my life? I decided it was finally truly time for ME. So, on my kids first day of classes in college, Aug 21st, I decided to join a club.

I was 240 at 5'7" when I started and completely out of shape! I decided if this was a lifestyle change I could start as slow as I wanted, knowing I would increase intensity as I went. I started…

Breaking the oldest of habits

So, I've been meaning to document my weightloss progress for a long time now, so much so that not doing so has led me to continuously fail. I've realised my biggest obstacle with my weightloss journey throughout life has been emotional management (or lack thereof). Food is and always was my go to comfort behavior. I didn't have the greatest of childhoods and I always coped with negative emotions with stuffing them "back down", a term I still coin now. Growing up in a unloved environment, I…

Lisa's diary

Hi everyone :)

Just want to introduce myself. I am 35, happily married and I have 2 gorgeous boys who are 4 years old and 2 years old. I want to be healthier and happier for them and also to feel better within myself. I want to have the energy to keep up with them instead of being on the sidelines, or playing with them for 20 mins and saying I am tired and I need to rest now.

I am sick of constantly trying new diets and new menu plans and a million different things and the same thing…

Healthy & Speedy Minestrone Soup

by Spartacus Mars: link There are as many varieties of Minestrone (literally "BIG SOUP") as there are people who cook it.

My version is is created with speedy preparation in mind and avoids using pasta substituting Pearl Barley as the thickener, though wholemeal pasta can be used if you prefer. Also avoided are the use of chicken stock or stock cubes instead adding salt and lots of ground pepper directly.

You can easily add/remove vegetables and pulses as availability and taste…

I found food freedom, can I help you?

I'm a qualified dietitian (not currently practicing) but I hear so many of my friends and colleagues and gym buddies struggling with dieting and feeling restrictive and bouncing between binge eating and dieting. I hate that so many companies feed off our vulnerable state offering quick fix magic weight loss potions that don't work in the long term. I also hate that so many people feel ashamed about eating or do not want to socialize in case they let their dieting willpower slip. I hate it…

Martin Katahn's Rotation Diet?

I'm going to be on the rotation diet starting tomorrow. I hope someone didn't already post a thread on this, I searched it but could only find journals. What are your views on this diet? I hear you lose up to a pound a day from your metabolic rate. If you don't know what this diet is, ( which I'm sure you all do because you're all really smart about weight loss. ) it's when you have 600 cals for 3 days, 900 cals for 5 days I think.. then 1200 for a week…I'm going…
